How to make an invoice that gets paid on time
A clear invoice gets paid faster. Whether you are a freelancer, a trucking owner-operator or a small shop, every invoice should answer three questions for your customer: what they bought, how much they owe, and how and when to pay.

Open Invoice generatorWhat to put on an invoice
- Your business name, address and contact details (and logo, if you have one).
- Your tax number if you are registered (GST/HST, VAT, GSTIN).
- The customer’s name and address.
- A unique invoice number and the invoice date.
- A due date or payment terms, such as "Net 14".
- Each item or service with quantity, price and line total.
- Subtotal, tax, discounts and the total due.
- How to pay: bank details, e-transfer email, UPI ID or payment link.
Numbering invoices
Use a simple sequence you never repeat, such as INV-0001, INV-0002. Some businesses add the year: 2026-001. Consistent numbering makes bookkeeping and tax filing far easier.

Questions
Should I charge sales tax on my invoice?
Only if you are registered for it (for example GST/HST in Canada above the small-supplier threshold, or GST in India). Check the rules for your country and province or state.
What is the difference between an invoice and a receipt?
An invoice asks for payment. A receipt confirms payment was received. PDFCop has a receipt maker for that too.
