How to merge PDF files on iPhone
You have two free ways to combine PDFs on an iPhone: the Files app that comes with iOS, or PDFCop in Safari. Files is quick when the documents are already saved on your phone. PDFCop is better when you want to set the exact page order, merge files from email or WhatsApp, or keep going with other edits.
Method 1: Merge PDFs with PDFCop in Safari
This works on any iPhone or iPad with a recent version of Safari. Nothing is uploaded — your files are combined on the phone itself.
- Open Safari and go to pdfcop.com/merge-pdf.
- Tap Choose PDF files and pick the documents from Files, iCloud Drive or Recents. You can select several at once.
- Press and hold a file, then drag it to change the order.
- Tap Merge PDF, then Download PDF. Safari saves the new file to your Downloads folder in the Files app.
Method 2: Use the Files app
The Files app combines files in the order they are listed in the folder, so rename them (for example 1-, 2-, 3-) first if the order matters.
- Open the Files app and go to the folder that holds your PDFs.
- Tap the three-dot (More) button, then Select, and tap each PDF you want to combine.
- Tap the three-dot button at the bottom right and choose Create PDF.
- A new combined PDF appears in the same folder. Rename it by pressing and holding it.
Merging PDFs that came by email or WhatsApp
Attachments need to be saved before you can combine them. In Mail, press and hold the attachment and choose Save to Files. In WhatsApp, open the document, tap the Share button and choose Save to Files. Then use either method above.
Tips for a clean result
- If one of the PDFs is a photo of a document, convert it first with JPG to PDF so every page is the same size.
- If the merged file is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF.
- Need to drop a page after merging? Use Delete pages, then download again.
Questions
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge on iPhone?
PDFCop has no set limit. Very large documents (hundreds of pages with photos) can be slow on older phones, so merge in smaller batches if Safari struggles.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. PDFCop processes the files inside Safari on your iPhone. They are not sent to a server.
